On October 5, 2022, Mountain Mac Solutions was officially named Mobile Phone Shop of the Year – British Columbia by Corporate LiveWire as part of their Innovation & Excellence Awards.

I got the email earlier that week, and I’ll be honest—when I first heard the words, I had to reread the email twice. It was completely unexpected. I didn’t apply or campaign for anything. Someone out there, maybe a client, maybe a colleague nominated me. Then Corporate LiveWire’s panel, after reviewing thousands of nominees across Canada, chose Mountain Mac Solutions as the top mobile tech support service in BC.

I’m floored. And I’m thankful.

What This Award Means

Mountain Mac Solutions has always been a one-person operation with a community-first approach. I don’t have a storefront. I don’t have a team. What I do have is a deep love for helping people make sense of the tech in their lives—especially phones, tablets, smart devices, and all the gear that keeps us connected.

Winning this award in 2022, right in the middle of rebuilding after the pandemic’s peak, meant a lot. It was a powerful reminder that personal service, trust, and honesty still matter in tech, maybe more than ever.

Mountain Mac Solutions isn’t your typical “shop.” There’s no counter or waiting room. There’s just me—John—bringing hands-on, no-jargon tech help right to your home, your business, or your screen (for remote support).

Here’s what I try to bring to every job:

• Patience (especially when you’re feeling overwhelmed)

• Clear explanations, not confusing tech-speak

• Solutions that last, not temporary workarounds

• Honest recommendations, even if that means not buying something new

• Respect for all experience levels, whether you’re a digital native or just sent your first text

Looking Forward

Being named Mobile Phone Shop of the Year for BC is an honour—but it’s also motivation. It pushes me to keep showing up, learning, and adapting as tech keeps evolving.

In the years ahead, I’m committed to:

• Expanding support for smart home tech (Apple HomeKit, Alexa, Google Home)

• Offering more remote and virtual assistance

• Helping more older adults confidently navigate digital tools

• Continuing to provide clear, friendly, and judgment-free service

Awards come and go—but relationships last. I’m here for the long haul.
