Back-to-Back Wins! Mountain Mac Solutions Honoured Again in the 2023 Canadian Business Awards

I didn’t expect this. Again.

For the second year in a row, Mountain Mac Solutions has been recognized in the Canadian Business Awards by Corporate Vision Magazine. This time, I’m proud to say we’ve once again been named one of the top mobile phone and tech support providers in British Columbia’s Southern Interior.

Two years. Two wins. One guy, and a passion for making tech less frustrating for the people of the Kootenays.

Honestly, I’m blown away.

More Than Just a Trophy

When I got the news about the 2023 award, I had to double-check that it wasn’t a mistake. I mean, I’m not a flashy company. I don’t have a traditional storefront or a team. I run Mountain Mac Solutions as a sole proprietorship. It’s just me, helping people one home at a time: with phones, computers, smart gadgets, and all the tech that’s supposed to make our lives easier (but often doesn’t).

Winning an award is awesome. But to win it again means something even bigger: that what I do is working. That people notice. That clients trust me. And that small-town service still matters in a high-tech world.

What Changed in 2023?

If 2022 was the year of survival and adaptation, 2023 was the year of growth.

I expanded remote support, helped more seniors get confident with mobile tech, and doubled down on smart home integration. I started seeing more clients looking for help syncing devices, boosting home Wi-Fi for remote work, and setting up smart lighting, thermostats, and security systems.

People didn’t just want support, they wanted peace of mind.

That is really what Mountain Mac Solutions is about. It’s not just fixing things, it’s helping people feel calm and capable when dealing with their devices.

Some Things Haven’t Changed

I’m still showing up in person when I can. I’m still answering phone calls myself. I’m still doing the work with my own hands. And I’m still explaining things in plain English—no jargon, no upselling, no nonsense.

I’ve been lucky to work with so many amazing people across the Kootenays this year—from seniors in Slocan who needed help joining virtual doctors’ appointments, to small business owners in Nelson looking to back up their data, to families in Castlegar trying to make their internet reach the basement.

Every job is different. Every person matters.

I Don’t Take This for Granted

I know there are bigger companies out there. I know you could go to a big-box store or call a national provider. But every time someone chooses to work with me, I treat that as a vote of confidence.

This second award isn’t just about me—it’s a reflection of the support I get from you: my neighbours, my clients, my community.

A Few Highlights from This Year

Here are just a few of the things I was proud to help people with in 2023:

• Set up mesh Wi-Fi in an off-grid home using satellite internet

• Helped a retiree securely sell an old laptop and transition to an iPad

• Installed smart locks and doorbell cameras for a young family in Nelson

• Delivered remote support to clients as far away as Vancouver Island

• Led one-on-one tech tutorials with seniors wanting to use FaceTime, email, or streaming apps

And yes, I still fix iPhones, iPads, & Macs.

Looking Ahead

• Offer more smart home services and upgrades
• Help more seniors and technophobes get confident with devices

If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that technology isn’t slowing down and neither am I.
