I didn’t think lightning could strike twice, let alone three times, but here we are.

For the third year in a row, Mountain Mac Solutions has been recognized by Corporate Vision Magazine in the Canadian Business Awards. This time, I was genuinely speechless.

Three consecutive wins. Still a one-person shop. Still serving the Kootenays.

If you’ve supported my business in any way over the past few years, thank you. These awards might have my business name on them, but they truly belong to all of you who’ve trusted me with your technology and let me into your homes.

Still Just Me—and Still Showing Up

Not much has changed about the way I operate. I’m still a one-man tech support shop based in Nelson, BC, driving to homes and businesses across the Kootenays. I still pick up the phone myself, answer every email, and make time to walk people through their tech problems one step at a time.

What’s changed is the reach.

After winning in 2022 and 2023, word got out a little more. I got calls from people I’d never met before, people who had seen the award logo and said, “If you’ve won that many times, I figured you must be doing something right.”

I hope I lived up to that.

What the Award Means in 2024

The 2024 award felt a little different, it meant more. It came during a time when a lot of people were feeling overwhelmed by rapidly changing technology.

AI assistants, smart devices everywhere, increasingly complex networks… even people who consider themselves tech-savvy were reaching out for help. I get it.

Tech is supposed to make life easier, not more stressful. But when it doesn’t work—or when it changes faster than we can keep up—it’s easy to feel lost.

This year, more than ever, I focused on being a calm, helpful presence. Not just solving problems, but reducing tech anxiety and bringing confidence back to the user.

So to be recognized for that effort, in 2024, after another challenging year for many people—that means everything.

Some Highlights From This Year

Here’s a glimpse of what 2024 looked like for Mountain Mac Solutions:

• Helped dozens of seniors across the region set up and secure their smartphones and tablets

• Installed smart home security systems and automated lighting for families new to the Kootenays

• Upgraded Wi-Fi setups for remote workers and small businesses in hard-to-reach rural areas

• Provided remote tech training to folks across British Columbia who couldn’t meet in person

• Offered eco-friendly tech guidance to help people get more out of the devices they already had

And yes… I’m still helping people figure out why their printers hate them.

Why This Work Still Matters to Me

People often ask if I’ll expand—open a shop, hire a team, start selling hardware. And while I never say never, my answer has always been this:

“I’m not in this to grow big. I’m in it to help people.”

There’s something deeply satisfying about knowing your tech is working the way it should; especially when it connects you to family, work, safety, or entertainment. That’s what I help with and that’s what keeps me showing up day after day.

Mountain Mac Solutions was never meant to be flashy. Just helpful, honest, and local.
