Mountain Mac Solutions Wins Again: 2024 CorporateLiveWire Innovation & Excellence Award

Here I am again and I’m just as surprised and grateful as the first time.

For the second time, I’m proud to share that Mountain Mac Solutions has received national recognition through the CorporateLiveWire Innovation & Excellence Awards. This time, for the 2024 edition, I am once again awarded for excellence in the mobile tech space in British Columbia.

It’s not every day a one-person operation from the Kootenays gets recognized on the national stage. And yet, here I am sending thanks to a community that keeps showing up, supporting local, and spreading the word.

What the CorporateLiveWire Award Means in 2024

This award came as part of CorporateLiveWire’s annual program recognizing small businesses and professionals for innovation, quality service, and long-term community impact. The nomination process includes input from over 90,000 businesses, professionals, readers, and alongside detailed research by the judging panel.

To be recognized again without a marketing team, traditional storefront, or advertising budget; is honestly humbling.

“This award reflects your ongoing commitment to consistent service, innovation, and customer experience in a rapidly changing tech environment,” said the panel.

For a business that runs out of a backpack, a MacBook, and a whole lot of heart, that’s a big deal.

Reflecting on a Year of Service

Every award is different. This one—coming off the back of some very fast-moving changes in consumer tech—felt like a recognition not just of technical skills, but of adaptability.

In 2024, I focused more than ever on helping people navigate the confusing landscape of:

  • Device syncing and cloud backup

  • Smart home tech: lights, locks, thermostats, cameras

  • Wi-Fi 6/7 upgrades in homes and remote cabins

  • Security and privacy coaching for mobile devices

  • Helping seniors use mobile health apps, video calls, and secure messaging

I worked with people from all walks of life—artists, farmers, retirees, remote workers, families new to the region—and every single one reminded me why I do this.

What Stays the Same

I still don’t have a store. I don’t sell devices. And I don’t speak in jargon.

What I offer is personal, one-on-one support, designed to help people feel confident with their tech, not confused by it.

Whether it’s someone in Slocan trying to extend their Wi-Fi, or a senior in Castlegar unsure how to use FaceTime, I show up with patience, kindness, and a commitment to leave things better than I found them.

“Every visit feels like calling a friend who happens to know a lot about tech,” one client said this year. That stuck with me.

Growing with Purpose

Winning again doesn’t mean I plan to scale up. It means I want to keep growing with intention.

This year, I’m exploring:

  • Creating a tech tip series for seniors and home users

  • Offering educational sessions on privacy and online safety

  • Continuing remote support for long-time clients who’ve moved away

  • Expanding help with eco-conscious tech upgrades to reduce e-waste

And most importantly: showing up, one client at a time, with the same care I started this business with.

Thank You for Believing in Local Service

If you’re reading this and you’ve ever hired me, referred me, or even just told a friend about “that tech guy from Nelson”—thank you. This award is only possible because of you.

Whether you’re new to the Kootenays or have lived here for decades, know that Mountain Mac Solutions is here to help your tech make sense, not stress.
