Four Years Running: Mountain Mac Solutions Wins 2025 Canadian Business Award
Well… this is wild.
For the fourth year in a row, Mountain Mac Solutions has been recognized by Corporate Vision Magazine in their Canadian Business Awards. In 2025, we’ve once again been named among the best in the country, right here from our little corner of the Kootenays.
I’ve said this before, but I’ll say it again: I never started this business to win awards. I started it to help people. Yet somehow, year after year, your support and trust have helped put this tiny tech shop from Nelson, BC on the international stage. I’m incredibly grateful.
From Tech Help to Trusted Service
When I launched Mountain Mac Solutions, I didn’t imagine it would turn into something this impactful. I just wanted to offer personal, reliable tech support to the folks in my community who didn’t want to deal with call centers, upselling, or long drives to big-box stores.
Seven years later, I’ve helped thousands of families, seniors, small business owners, and newcomers make their homes—and lives—a little more connected, a little more secure, and a lot less stressed when it comes to technology.
And it still feels like the beginning.
What Winning in 2025 Means
This year’s award hit differently.
The tech world is shifting fast: AI, smart homes, faster wireless standards, new cybersecurity risks and many of my clients are feeling overwhelmed. Even the most basic tasks like syncing a iPhone to a Mac or getting a strong Wi-Fi signal in a rural home are more complex than they used to be.
That’s why this year, I leaned harder than ever into clear communication, long-term solutions, and reducing stress. I’ve spent more time listening than fixing, and more time teaching than selling. The response has been humbling.
“Mountain Mac Solutions has continued to deliver exceptional service with a deep commitment to its community,” said this year’s judging panel.
“Its fourth consecutive win is a reflection of consistent excellence and heart-led entrepreneurship.”
Highlights From This Year
Here’s a quick look at what 2025 has brought to the Mountain Mac journey:
-
Helped seniors in rural BC set up secure devices and digital health access
-
Installed smart lighting, thermostats, and cameras in off-grid and rural homes
-
Delivered remote support and tune-ups to returning clients all over Canada
-
Provided Wi-Fi 7 upgrades and smart network tuning for work-from-home families
-
Ran one-on-one coaching sessions to demystify iPhones, iPads, and cloud storage
-
Continued offering patient, respectful service, especially to those who say, “I’m not good with tech.”
Some days are about signal boosters. Other days are about sitting with someone and helping them finally understand how to back up their photos. Both matter equally to me.
Why I’m Still a One-Man Shop
People often ask why I haven’t expanded, hired staff, or opened a store. And the truth is, I’ve thought about it. What makes Mountain Mac special is the personal connection.
When you call or email, you’re talking to me. When I show up, it’s not just to fix something, it’s to make sure you feel supported, respected, and confident when using your tech. That’s not something I’m willing to give up.
I built this business on trust, and I intend to keep it that way.
Words from the Community
“I’ve hired John three times now. He’s always on time, explains things clearly, and never makes me feel dumb. That’s rare in tech.”
— Donna K., South Slocan
“We needed help wiring a mesh network into our rural property. John gave us options, respected our budget, and made it work flawlessly.”
— Stephen & Mei, Winlaw
“He doesn’t just fix the problem—he makes you understand it, so it doesn’t happen again.”
— Claire R., Nelson
These messages mean more to me than any trophy or headline. They remind me why I keep doing this, year after year.
Looking Ahead: Staying Rooted, Growing Wisely
I don’t know what the next year will bring. Tech is changing fast, and so are the needs of the people I serve. But here’s what I do know:
-
I’ll keep showing up in person
-
I’ll keep offering real, human help
-
I’ll keep learning and adapting
-
I’ll keep serving the Kootenays with care, curiosity, and consistency
I’ve got plans to roll out more support for smart home security, Apple Home integrations, and even workshops or guides for those who want to learn more at their own pace.
But no matter what, Mountain Mac will stay small, nimble, and grounded.
